MEET Sharlene Johnson
I’m a lifelong resident of Santa Clarita Valley dedicated to enhancing our community’s educational opportunities. With a solid background in public relations communication and marketing plus extensive community outreach experience, I’m well-prepared to serve as your trustee for the Santa Clarita Community College District and advocate for our community college.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from California State University Northridge and an Associate of Arts from College of the Canyons. My time at College of the Canyons is a large part of why I hope to serve in this role and why I have served on the College of the Canyons Foundation Board for 5 years- to give back to the institution that gave me so much.
In leadership roles as Director of Member Services at Henry Mayo Fitness and Health and Santa Clarita Family YMCA, I learned the importance of collaboration, transparency, and accountability. These are values applied to every decision I’ll make!
My goals are to expand access to quality education for all students, promote innovative programs, and ensure fiscal responsibility. I’m committed to maintaining open communication with the community, fostering transparency, and using our resources effectively.
